What Makes Buyers Keep Scrolling... or Stop
The decision to visit a home often begins with the decision to keep looking.
Buyers Make Hundreds of Small Decisions
Buying a home is a series of decisions.
Some are obvious. Which neighborhood? How much can we afford? Does the amount of bedrooms work?
Others happen almost without notice.
Should I keep looking at this listing?
That decision is made over and over as buyers scroll through the MLS or a real estate app. Most listings receive only a few moments of attention before buyers move on or decide to learn more.
Curiosity Is Worth More Than Attention
It's easy to think the goal of listing marketing is to grab attention.
I don't think that's quite right.
Attention lasts a moment.
Curiosity lasts longer.
The best listings don't try to answer every question. They encourage buyers to take the next step, whether that's viewing more photographs, studying the floor plan, or scheduling a showing.
"Attention gets the click. Curiosity earns the showing."
Buyers Need a Reason to Pause
Every listing competes with the one before it and the one after it.
When buyers pause, it's usually because something about the home feels worth understanding.
Not necessarily larger.
Not necessarily newer.
Just interesting enough to imagine seeing in person.
That's often all a listing needs to accomplish.
